The first meeting of the Latin American psychological seminar. ‘Cultural-historical psychology’

On April 7, 2021, the first meeting of the seminar on cultural-historical psychology was held. The organizers are the Specialized University of America UDELAS in Panama, the National Pedagogical University of Francisco Morazán in Honduras, the National Distance University in Costa Rica, the Agrarian University of Havana in Cuba, the Faculty of Psychology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education, as well as the Russian Psychological Society and the Panamanian Association of Psychologists.

The event was opened by Francisco Javier Cedeño, Director of Strategic Communications at UDELAS. The Dean of the Faculty of Social Education and Human Development at UDELAS Ricardo González Escartín and the Rector of UDELAS Juan Bosco Bernal said welcoming words.

The lecturers of the Specialized University of America, Dr. Bélgica Bernal Vega and Jazmina Itzel Vega made their presentations; from the Russian side, a lecture on modern horizons of cultural-historical psychology was delivered by Yuri Zinchenko, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Director of the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education, President of the Russian Psychological Society, Academician of the Russian Academy of Education. The QA session was attended by Alexander Veraksa, Head of the Department of Educational Psychology and Pedagogy at Faculty of Psychology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Deputy Director of the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education, Vice President of the Russian Psychological Society, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Education.

The agreements on conducting joint research were made and the topics for the next meetings were determined. The speakers expressed their gratitude to Apollinaria Chursina, junior research fellow at the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education, employee of the Department of Educational Psychology and Pedagogy at Faculty of Psychology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, and postgraduate student of the School of Health Sciences at the University of Granada in Spain, for her contribution to the organization of the event.

The seminar organization was held with UDELAS Director for Internationalization and Technical Cooperation Luis Enrique Torres, UDELAS Academic Events Department Coordinator Elizabeth Pérez, UDELAS Psychology Department Director Aelén López.

The seminar was attended by than a thousand colleagues - psychologists from Argentina, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Ecuador and other countries.
