Delegation of the Russian Psychological Society at the Intercontinental Congress of Psychologists HOMINIS 2023

The delegation of the Russian Psychological Society attended the opening of the Intercontinental Congress of Psychologists HOMINIS 2023 in Havana 24-28 April. HOMINIS has been the largest scientific event in the Latin American region for many years. The congress was held in a hybrid format in Spanish.

The Congress was opened by the President of the Cuban Psychological Society, Dr. Jorge Enrique Torralbas, who spoke about the importance of uniting science, people and government institutions in order to correspond to the real challenges of society and create a truly inclusive psychological science and practice.

The President of the International Union of Psychological Science, Dr. Germán Gutiérrez, elaborated on the development of psychology in the Latin American region in the context of various historical events and raised the problem of the universality of psychological science.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Cuba Dr. Alicia Alonso Becerra, President of the Cuban Academy of Sciences Dr. Luis Velázquez Pérez, and member of the Council of State, Rector of the University of Havana, Dr. Miriam Nicado García.

Psychological professional associations and societies from all over the world sent greetings to the HOMINIS 2023. In turn, the President of the Russian Psychological Society, Dean of Faculty of Psychology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Director of the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Education, Professor Yuri Zinchenko noted that the long tradition of HOMINIS perfectly reflects the hospitality and warmth of the Cuban people.

The Congress brought together more than 1,500 people from 23 countries, in addition, about 40 master classes for psychologists were held as part of the event.

In addition, during the visit of the delegation of the Russian Psychological Society to Cuba, negotiations were held with the President of the Cuban Psychological Society, Dr. Jorge Enrique Torralbas, as well as with the Head of the International Relations Department, Dr. Claudia Caballero. As part of the talks, prospects for bilateral cooperation were outlined, in particular, joint scientific, research and publication activities.

The delegation also visited the Animation Studios of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry ICAIC and explored the directions of its work with its collaborator, Professor of the Havana University, Nilza González Peña.

As a part of the Intercontinental Congress of Psychologists HOMINIS 2023, four speeches in Spanish were also presented, in particular, on the results of the All-Russian project "Growing Together".

The delegation included representatives of the Faculty of Psychology Lomonosov Moscow State University and Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education.
